Life is not a destination, but a journey! Let's all work together to make this year a positive part of that journey. Our goal is for every student to work hard to reach their full potential. We want all students to become independent problem solvers. We will spend time educating the whole child (academically, socially, and emotionally) and will hold students accountable, expecting all students to treat others with respect, work cooperatively, and increase their level of responsibility. We will make time for students and their concerns because we want all students to feel good about themselves and their contributions. Above all, we want all students to believe in themselves because all students can succeed! |

I grew up in Bloomington until I was 12 and then moved to Burnsville and finished school there. I graduated in 1987 from Burnsville High School. I then went to Minnesota State University at Mankato (known as Mankato State University back then!) and graduated in 1991 with a BS degree in Elementary Education along with a coaching license.
I have been teaching for twenty-one years. My first teaching job was in Arlington, Minnesota. I taught second grade and was there for two years. Then I taught first grade in Eagan for one year before coming to Northfield. While here, I have taught second grade, fourth grade, and in a first-third multi-age program. I also coached high school volleyball for ten years.
My hobbies include playing volleyball, golf, running, geocaching, hiking, and mountain biking. I have a wonderful husband (Lonnie), a beautiful, energetic daughter (Kasey, age 12), a very smiley little girl (Alexandra/Alex, age 5), and very happy baby girl (Camryn/CoCo, age 3). I also enjoy reading educational research and professional resources. I finished working on my master’s degree through Hamline University in the summer of 2004. However, I still take many, many classes each summer. |

I was born in Norfolk, Virginia. My dad was in the navy. We moved to Minnesota when I was only two years old, so I consider myself a native. I grew up in St. Louis Park and graduated from High School there in 1977. I went to the University of Minnesota and got my B.A. in English with a minor in Spanish.
After working in the printing field for many years, I went back to school to get my teaching and graduate degrees. I received these in 1991 from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Since then, I have taught both elementary and middle school students from grades 3 to 9.
I came to Bridgewater by way of Northfield Middle School. I taught sixth grade there for seven years and fourth grade since then.
My hobbies include coaching the Northfield Special Olympics Swim team, helping my husband with the Special Olympics track team, camping, writing, hiking, and taking care of my pets. (I am a BIG animal lover, in case your child hasn't told you yet.) I love to travel and meet new people. I have been to Puerto Rico and would love to go back there. I also dream of going to Spain one day. |
