$20.00 for teacher purchased supplies (Homework Planner, Storyworks subscription for each student, and other supplies) 3-ring zipper binder folders (3) to fit in binder facial tissues tennis shoes (clean, for phy-ed) backpack What is this zipper binder thing? The picture to the right is just an example...the binder does not have to look exactly like this. Please do NOT spend too much money on this! There are several very expensive binders out there. We are looking for the basic zipper binder (with nothing inside) that runs under $12.00. The zipper binder should be small enough to fit inside a backpack. It does not take the place of a backpack. Why do we ask for a supply fee? Well, there are a few reasons. 1. Some of the materials we need are for a particular reason, so the items need to be pretty specific and it's easier for us to pick them out than for you to try to figure out what we mean on the supply list. 2. It is less expensive for us to purchase supplies because we can purchase from catalogs and shop the sales and pick up just what we need. 3. It takes away the "haves" from the "have nots" so kids cannot compare who has cooler supplies (i.e. more money). 4. Rather than asking for something like "2 red pens" and then you either need to buy a package of 10 (for pretty cheap) or a package of 2 (for pretty expensive), we can purchase the cheap packages of 10 and get the correct number needed in total. 5. Sometimes we want each student to bring in 4 black dry erase chisel tip markers. However, finding a package of 4 black dry erase chisel tip markers can be next to impossible. Rather than frustrating you, we can buy them through a catalog instead and get just what we need. | |
