Foods 3:  Baking and Pastries

 

PREREQUISITES:  Foods 1

 

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

 

Cakes, cookies, bread.  Sound good?  If you are interested in learning more about baking, then this is the class for you.  Maybe you want to become a Pastry Chef?  This is also the place to start.  We will discuss careers related to baking.  Some of our labs will include homemade quick breads, biscuits, scones, fruit pastries, cakes, and cookies. You will also learn very basic techniques for cake decorating and chocolate creations as well as how to make foods look good through garnishing.  If you enjoy sweets and love to cook, sign up for this class.

Cakes   1 Crust Pies  Yeast breads

 

Projects: Final food project:  This project will count towards your final exam. Working with your lab group, you will create a baked item of your choice that meets the outlined criteria for the final food project.  Detail pertaining to this project will be provided at a later date. You will be working on a budget for this project.
