NHS Jazz One

All practices for the group are held outside of the regular school day on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 7AM. Members are expected to attend all practices and performances, as there is only one person to a part. The Jazz Band season begins in October and ends in April. The main focus for the group is learning to play different styles of Jazz and swing music throughout the year for the Swing Dance scheduled in April. Other performances will be added as needs and or requests arise.

TO LETTER

Students cannot miss more than a total of four (4) rehearsals - performances are mandatory. Students sick for the day will be excused. Other extenuating circumstances may arise and the director may approve these excuses. Late arrivals: Late times will be documented and will count toward a missed rehearsal. A good attitude must be maintained toward self-improvement and learning the music for the ensemble outside of rehearsal hours. Good conduct and musicianship needs to be displayed at all times. MSHSL rules must be observed. Others who do not qualify may letter because of extenuating circumstances upon the approval of the Jazz Band director and the Activities director.
