HOMEWORK POLICY

for

Mr. Rauk and Mrs. DuChene

HOMEWORK

We believe homework is essential to student learning.  It provides an opportunity for continued practice at home and sets up good study habits for years to come. Fifth graders should have approximately 50 minutes of homework each night. In our classes this will be comprised of a nightly study link in math, reading 30 minutes per day (or 150 minutes per week), and practicing spelling words. We understand that each student works at his/her own pace, however it is never meant to monopolize your entire evening/weekend.  If this becomes the case, please let us know.

Reading Homework

A month’s worth of reading homework will be given in calendar form and is to be completed weekly.  The requirement is to read 150 minutes per week (because I understand that some nights get busy).  Initial the calendar and send back to school on Mondays and it will be marked off in my grade book. Thanks for your help with this!
