Meet Mrs. Cade

My name is Kristen Cade and my passion is teaching Kindergarten.  I have been a teacher in the Northfield Public Schools since 1992.  I have taught students with special needs, 4th graders and Kindergarten students.

I grew up in Northfield and have a deep connection and fondness for the community.  After high school, I studied for my teaching certification in elementary education, special education and Kindergarten at the University of Minnesota, Mankato.  After graduation I began my teaching career at the Northfield High School where I taught in the Special Education department for six years.  Although I enjoyed this, my goal from the time I was in elementary school was to be a Kindergarten teacher.  When I was presented the opportunity, I welcomed it!  I taught at Longfellow Elementary and now am here at Bridgewater.

Throughout my teaching, I have taken a few adventures.  I spent the first years after each of my children were born at home with them.  I also went back and got my Masters of Arts in Teaching at St. Mary's University.  And, in 2006 my family and I had the opportunity to teach for two academic years in Guatemala City at the American School of Guatemala. There, I taught Kindergarten to Spanish speakers learning English.  This was a great experience and really has helped my ability to teach English language learners here in Northfield.

I have two children.   Channing, who is in the fifth grade companeros program here at Bridgewater. And Jackson is in 8th grade at the Middle School in the Amistades program.  My husband, Stephen, of 18 years, is a Spanish Teacher at the Northfield High School.
