During the second semester of the 2003-2004 school year I had 55 Watercolor students in two sections of Watercolor Painting. I have provided some examples below of the wonderful things that they created in my classes. The first paintings on this page are the "Mini Masterpieces". These paintings are all 3" x 3" and smaller and the details are amazing! The second group of paintings are the "Grab Bag Paintings". These paintings are a combination of painting and collage and are highly conceptual. The spontaneous appearance of the paintings stems from the ideas that each student had to include in their painting. At the beginning of the painting, I gave each student a brown paper grab bag. The bags contained a wide range of items such as: feathers, beads, photographs, clothespins, wire and candy. Each student had the challenge of incorporating each item in their bag into their painting either through collaging or visual representation. The third and final group of paintings are landscape pieces done with watercolor and the addition of fine-tipped ink pens. ENJOY!
