Honors Art fosters an independent-artistic environment where student artists have the opportunity to work with the medium(s) and topics of their choice. Students in Honors Art develop a strong, thematic body of work over the course of one semester and wrap up the course experience with a professional gallery show at a local Northfield gallery. Honors Art is an honors visual art course open to juniors and seniors who have met specific criteria necessary for acceptance into the class. Students wishing to apply for a spot in Honors Art must have taken a minimum of five visual art courses prior to applying, have earned a B+ or higher in all courses, provide one teacher recommendation from a visual art teacher, fully complete the written application, provide the course instructor with two pieces of art that display a proficiency in the medium they intend to work with, and submit all application materials by the date specified by the instructor. Application materials are sent to the home addresses of all interested students approximately one and a half months prior to the start of the course. Below you will find the Honors Art course syllabus, assignments, and application materials that are sent to the homes of future Honors Art students.
